A pattern of extremes continues with a record breaking cold system sliding through the West, set to drop 2-4ft of snow in the Western high country while record low/mid 90s swelter the Eastern Seaboard.

An unusually cold storm is expected to drop at least a couple of inches on Denver while 2 FEET may fall on Cheyenne, Wyo.

This is likely to cause power outages with major tree damage a big concern.
