There is a lot of energy over the Eastern Coastal Plain this afternoon with heat, humidity and a deep plume of tropical moisture riding north ahead of a strong frontal boundary seperating cool, dry Canadian air with warm, tropical air. It’s a real messy day with tornado watches out for sections of the I-95 from DC to NYC as strong to severe storms are blowing up. None T-storm winds blowing strong out of the S,SW will cause issues in their own right with gusts expected to between 50-60 mph from DC to Maine.

The main flood threat will be west of the big cities but within intense storms which pass through, rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour is possible in which cause flood flooding is likely.

Cold Air Is Coming South Out Of Canada!

While it’s a messy but warm, humid day up the Eastern Seaboard, it’s very fall-like in the Midwest. This morning, under clear skies, light winds, dry air and a cold air flow streaming down from Canada, the low dipping into the low 20s in International Falls this morning and highs today will struggle to reach the mid-50s up there this afternoon with sleet and snow expected to mix with rain showers across Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan today.

Coming days and nights will present more chances of seeing sleet/snow and frost.

More later!
