Back on Monday Tokyo was hit by up to 9 inches of snow making it their biggest snowfall since 2014 while FEET of snow continues to pile into the central Alps west of the city due to ongoing arctic winds blowing across the Sea of Japan.

To the west of the city, the Alps will see several feet of sea effect snowfall.
In the wake of the heavy snowfall, skies cleared out and temps plummeted into the -20s C in the mountains but -4C in metro Tokyo this morning. That -4C happens to be the city’s coldest morning since 1970!
