It’s a hot, steamy, thundery July 4th weekend from Texas to Carolinas with plenty of hazy sunshine building daytime surface temps widely into the middle 90s while fresher air resides over the Northeast with a channel of heavy flooding rains running in between.
PM thunderstorms will develop within this hot, humid Southern air mass today and Monday.
Heatwave Begins With 110s on Plains
The core of the ridge first blisters Texas (now) with Dallas seeing their first 100s of the year but into early and mid week we potentially see 110+F for Oklahoma and Kansas, but as the week progresses, the hot dome shifts east as a trough slides into the Pacific Northwest.

With the feedback influence of the dry ground across the Southeast and Northeast, temps are likely to reach the upper 90s, low 100s widely from Louisiana to North Carolina while 90s arrive in the CD to Boston corridor.
It’s hot now but we increase the temp through this week as the upper ridge expands.
