The rest of today and right through the weekend looks largely fine, dry and settled with the exceptions of the far north where there’s a weak boundary bringing rain, sleet, snow and hail to the Northern Isles and far northern mainland.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells, lows of 1-2C where cloud prevails, 0 to -3, locally -6C under clearer skies. A chance of a sleet or snow shower in the east.

Both Saturday and Sunday will be dry with decent spells of sunshine, highs 6-10C with light winds. Staying cold with frost by night.

England

The setup this weekend is very much dominated by fine, dry and much more settled conditions, especially for the cold and blustery Southeast. Through tonight, expect a widespread frost with skies becoming clear after dark. Lows 1 to -3, locally -6C.

Through Saturday and it’s a much better day with those lighter winds and with sunshine, temps should warm to between 6-10C, feeling nice in the sun. Sunday will be much the same with a mix of sun and cloud, light winds, highs of 7-10C. Frosty nights continue into early next week.

Wales

A fine and largely dry and bright weekend but the main theme will be the drop off in winds compared to recent days. After a cold and frosty night with lows dipping back below freezing, Saturday is looking like a great day to get out and about. Lighter winds and good spells of sun will allow temps to reach 7 to 10C. Another cold night tomorrow night and during Sunday clouds increase from the west as an Atlantic low pushes a cold front closer to Wales.

Northern Ireland

It’s been yet another dry but chilly day across Ulster but cloudier than Thursday though. Through tonight and skies clear oce again allowing for a widespread frosty and rather cold night with lows dipping to 0 or below, perhaps -5C in inland parts of Co Down.

Saturday with light enough winds and decent spells of sunshine should allow highs rise towards 10C but clouds increase through the day. Tomorrow night may be less cold with a slight southerly breeze picking up and clouds hold on through the night. A somewhat cloudier day across the country for Sunday and slightly cooler due to less sun.

Ireland

A cold night to come right across the country with a widespread frost and lows of 0 to -4C under clear, starry skies. Saturday is looking largely dry and bright with decent spells of sunshine. Highs may top 10C with an 11C possible somewhere. Cloudier with a southerly breeze on Sunday.
