Over the next 36 hours it remains mild for the most part across the UK but once a frontal system pushes across and east of the UK during Tuesday. High pressure builds in and this will draw cooler air down from the north. The lower heights along with clearer overnight skies will bring back the frost and ice risk.
Throughout this week it will be brighter with more in the way of sunshine but gone will be the 10-12C highs. By late week, I expect highs of only 3-5C in the North, 4-8C elsewhere.
As I’ve said since last Friday, the upcoming weekend looks to present a distinct possibility of seeing some snow. There is no detail as of yet but stay tuned.

The pattern is evolving as thought and the UK is loosing the high.
At this time, while I was very confident that Europe would and will turn very cold, the UK is always a little trickier given that things can change right up until just a few days before an event. As stated before, it can be tougher to get the cold right across to the UK and Ireland but I remain optimistic and with a confidence level of 70% that winter will arrive from this weekend onwards.
