We saw roughly 3 weeks of a positive AO which has allowed significant cooling over the arctic and this has also laid to the quick expanse of arctic sea ice. A positive NAO/AO in November was crucial but when looking at the ensembles and seeing how much the NAO and AO is set to tank, we have a wild period of weather coming to the US and UK.

Next week will see a step down pattern for the US with cold air really filling Canada. Piece by piece this will come south and watch for snowstorms developing on the base of the trough.
For the second week of December, we could be looking at a major arctic outbreak from the Rockies to East coast… Will have more on this later Thursday.
