Arctic Air Never Gets East, US Pattern Turns Zonal, Pacific Driven! (Includes Video!)

The arctic air which entered Montana first will slide across the Dakotas today and Minnesota, Wisconsin tomorrow. The arctic air is moderating as it pushes east and if you live in the East, this never reaches you!

By Tuesday, the amplification starts to flatten across the country with the flow turning zonal. The door to the arctic will get shut and Pacific air is set to take charge. The arctic air currently over the Rockies and Plains will lift north over the Great Lakes into Hudson Bay by Wednesday but not before highs in Minnesota stay in the 10s in the north, 20s in the south during Monday and 20s for Wisconsin and parts of Michigan on Tuesday.

The next 7-10 days will see storminess with an active Pacific storm train crossing the West and Plains, exiting through the Great Lakes. With these storms, which by midweek will have a large upper low down over the southern Plains, chilly air will get entrained into this pattern but polar-pacific, not arctic.

This more active and freeflowing west-east pattern is down to the AO going positive and for avoidance altogether in the East for a good week, thank the positive NAO, this is keeping positive heights over the Northeast, warding off storminess.

so the reload will start to take place up there and this trend will set the stage for a lot of fun and games down the road.
