Monday night saw the Kvilda region of the Czech Republic record a temperature of -39.4C (-38F) on Monday night.

This morning saw temperatures fall to at least -4F in Moscow (Russ), 0F in Berlin (Ger), 0F in Groningen (Neth) 8F in Brussels (Bel), 9F in Amsterdam (Neth)

The Netherlands Enjoy The Good Old Days! Anyone Remember 1963?

It’s funny how the Dutch had to wait 12 long years before they could see their glorious canals freeze over once again. They did for the first time back in January 2009, then the following year, then this year, they did for 3 in a row, what a turnaround.. Only this time, the cold has been much more severe with temperatures plunging to 0F (-18C) in Amsterdam and a bone-chilling -9F in , coldest in the Netherlands for some 27 years. The canals have frozen much better than the past two years due to much colder conditions

I’m sure many believed global warning had spoiled winter in this part of the world, then after three years running of freeze-ups, many are scratching their heads. Thought global warming had ruined winter here?
