Today’s Weather Headlines
Europe Latest
UK-Ireland sees end to mild weather tonight as stubborn rain band pushes out and cold air pushes in increasing snow chances Monday to low levels across Scotland
During this evening, many hundreds of thousands if not more will be hitting the streets of our British/Irish towns and cities to bring in 2012. Luckily, there is no snow, no cold and also no storms to impede tonight’s procedings however, for many, if you think today was damp, tonight may turn rather wet as a fresh band of organised rain sweeps across the UK tonight bringing a rather dissapointing night for viewing foreworks, plus you’ll be rather soaked by the time your heading home.
During the early evening, a fresh band of rain pushes in off the Atlantic adding to an already damp night but temps will remain mild for this time of year and it doesn’t look like it will turn cold until early tomorrow morning when that band pushes out into the North Sea and on it’s heels, showers will be the feature with a freshening breeze and cooler feel, especially up across the higher ground of Scotland where the precip turns more wintry.
The only area that may see clearing before midnight, may be across western and perhaps southern Ireland and even parts of Ulster with a uniform rain turning more showery and it’s going to feel somewhat fresher.
NEW YEAR’S DAY
During the first day of 2012, sunshine and showers will be the main feature across the north while the fresh wind will pull more rain back in across the South of England.
Temps are cooler, especially across Scotland compared with today’s 10-12C, it’s going to be closer to 7-8C but feeling a lot colder with the wind. Further south, much like today with 10-12C.
