Europe Latest

While Greeks shiver, UK may be on track for Warmest November on record, hot on heels of record warm October!

North Wales was 8C above normal while Athens was 10C below normal on Sunday

Bangor in Gwynedd, north Wales recorded 18.2C yesterday which was said to be the country’s warmest November day in some 25 years. This balmy high was not only 8C above seasonal averages for this time of year but it was an impressive 10C WARMER than Athens, Greece which was 10C below normal.

Europe remains in an upside down sort of pattern where it’s warmer in the northwest than southeast Europe. It’s all thanks to ridging to the east of the UK and low pressure to the west of Ireland which is forcing mild south, southeasterly winds north from the Mediteranean while a deep trough remains entrenched across the eastern continent all the way into the eastern Mediteranean basin and this allows cold north winds to blow all the way down through typically warm Greece and the eastern Med itself.
