Canada growing colder this week with clipper set to bring swath of snow from Rockies to Lakes

A clipper system through this week looks set to bring a swath of snow from the BC Rockies southeastwards spreading a sizeable band of fresh snow across the Prairies towards the Great Lakes and possibly even as far east as the Maritimes. As well as this swath of snow, a building Arctic air mass will bleed across much of Canada bringing the coldest air of the season with possible lows of -15 to -20C for cities such as Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina possibly even Winnipeg later this week and into the weekend. Northern and central Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario may see some -25 to -30C readings.

Only four times in Edmonton, Alberta history have they not seen the first snows in September and October….

Europe Latest

NAO (North Atlantic Oscillation) heading VERY POSITIVE and likely will remain that way through rest of month

As you can see from the below chart, the NAO has shooting through the roof which suggests to me that here in the UK as well as over to the low countries and France, we are less likely to see the turn to major cold and snow by the later of November as many forecasters have predicted. Of course this doesn’t mean it deffinately won’t happen, heck the NAO may even flip negative, however, the pattern overall continues favouring cold more to the east of Europe which will shift westward, particularly into December as then a negative NAO starts to kick in and this would allow a PERSISTENT locked down trough of cold (like what eastern Europe is seeing now) for about 3-4 weeks by around December 15th onwards. WATCH OUT UK AND WESTERN EUROPE, WE HAVE PLENTY OF COLD AND SNOW TO COME IN JUST OVER ONE MONTH FROM NOW!
