>Todays Extremes here at the house
High 42 degrees (9.25pm) 34 degrees (155am)
SNOW/RAIN: Overnight and morning rain showers
Snowcover: None here, 1-2″ Campsies, 1-4″ high ground of Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire & Dumfries and Galloway. Still high drifts… Higher snow depths and drifts over Highlands. 15ft drifts near Aviemore

A mild day with a light breeze, showers and heavy, low cloud dominated. Atlantic air finally removes last the the cold, dense air which brought snow showers throughout the day yesterday and brought a fresh 1″ covering here at lower levels. This is now completely gone and even stubborn patches of ice are finally leaving pavements now that temps have topped the long awaited 40-degree mark. Wamrer air to persistent for forseeable future and stormier weather is expected over the next 24 to 48 hours.

    >I do remember that winters were just as snowy and cold (or even worse) as we've had during the 70s, 80s and 90s here in the UK. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I saw 15 foot snow drifts in fife before, and experienced the infrastructure grinding to a hault. Electricity down, roads blocked for days on end etc.
