>Current Warming may be just “Half Time” in a Memorable winter here in Great Britain

>Since we’re “warming” and I will say that with inverted comas since really the air is all that warm or mild like many a winter where actually the mid-30s we have warmed to yesterday and today would have been chilly during recent truely WARM winters, particularly the winter of 06-7 which brought a barrage of storminess but with it, sub-tropical Atlantic air with it. Heck you couldn’t buy a freezing night or snow.

Now, I have been thinking today, despite sitting in a daylong, boring drivers course/seminar that the current warming trend may be reasonably short lived and this may in fact be “half time” as I believe it’s possible and I am not saying that this is written in stone yet but another 2-3 week period of very cold and at times snowy weather could strike sometime between Jan 25 and Feb 1. IF THIS OCCURS then this winter would probably become one of the most memorable winters in 100 years in this country.

I do strongly believe winter is nowhere near done with us yet, not even close and we will get more snow and cold days and nights. Just how cold remains to be seen. It is possible we could take a run at the numbers we experienced between Dec 17-Jan 10 but in terms of duration as well as intensity, I find it would be very tough to compare with the period we have just gone through but I will lay it on the table as a possibility.

What I would be more inclined to lay down with greater confidence is, a 1-2 week of very cold weather. Highs is the 20s, lows down into the teens with snow once again covering the ground for perhaps 2 weeks or so. Much of Britain may well be once again widely snow covered and that would be the only way to support the cold levels we’ve already seen.

Another consideration we must make is that as we progress and despite another two and a half months of winter, days are growing longer and the sun stronger, therefore it would be amazing to see the -20s in the Highlands and -10s here within the populated Central Belt but it isn’t out of the question.

Places such as central parts of England as well as the south including the Greater London area is likely to recieve more snow from this winter as well as some cold days…

Burst pipes are becoming a major problem across the country according to todays newspaper… That was mentioned as a major issue this winter, stated in my forecast which was released here on Nov 1, remember?

Thanks for reading.

    >If it is only half-time, it's all square at the break. Atlantic air has just scored an equaliser and the Arctic manager is having to rethink his team-talk.

This one could go to penalty kicks.
