>Todays Extremes here at the house
High 36 degrees Low 33 degrees
SNOW/RAIN: Steady evening rain falling on frozen ground, creating pooling.
Snowcover: Less than 1″ (patchy)
Though it has been another day of warmer weather (relatively and compared to the last 3 weeks) the day remained cool with a chilly wind. The overnight hours in the mid-30s has allowed persistent thawing and continued loss in snowcover. Much of the ground is now showing up around here and all but chunck of ice that has been scrapped away remain. However surrounding the town and in places, snow remains and I still consider the fact we still have snow on the ground. Many fields now have standing water with both thawing and also evening rains which can’t perculate into frozen ground, therefore standing water, particularly urbanised areas may be a new problem and with ice underneath, it becomaes a new hazard people need to be aware of. Tomorrow, similar conditions but what I will say is this. We may have a tough time topping 40 degrees, despite the warmer air, we are remaining a little cooler than normal still and I don’t see any substantial WARMING, therefore ice may remain for a while…
