Temps May Approach Year’s Max of 26C Again Friday But Thunderstorms Will Again Cut Heat Short!

Thanks to high pressure drifting west back out into the Atlantic, a plume of warmer and more humid air will make a return to the UK through the second half of this work week. Unfortunately, like recent warm spells, it’s short lived and by this weekend, we’re back in the fresher air.

The GFS shows the steady rise in temperature today through Friday before low pressure once again prematurely breaks the heat with thunderstorms.

Looks like even Scotland and Northern Ireland gets in on some warmth this time. 19C in Edinburgh was the UK warm spot yesterday and the pathetically Scotland’s warmest day of the year. We should crack the 21C barrier either today or tomorrow.

Big drop come Saturday!

This is a very similar setup to last Friday! Look for strong thunderstorms and big rain totals in a short space of time. Lot’s of warm, moist air for this energy to tap.

CAPE values are high Friday PM.

The pattern resettles again late weekend into early next week as high pressure rebuilds before drifting south, allowing a more westerly flow to kick in mid to late week. Looks like Scotland, Northern Ireland returns to a more unsettled theme.
