I am out all day today so today’s write-up was in fact put together late last night but I would rather have something rather than nothing.
Here was the snowy scene on the A82 and A9 last night. Not very pleasant.

If you’ve been watching and reading, you’ll be well aware of the setup.
Here’s the GFS surface.

Note the depth of the low drifting towards us. Isobars are closed in, so winds increase through the morning and these winds will continue to drive heavy ‘wintry showers’ across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England with slushy accumulation possible at low levels while significant accumulation is possible over higher ground where blizzard conditions is a given.
Our air source is from Canada and Greenland.
GFS snow through 24 hrs.
Winds veer northwesterly on Tuesday and then we get a surge of warmer air ahead of the next potent Atlantic depression. That thing hits later Wednesday and is followed by more cold air streaming in from Canada and Greenland with further snow and potentially down to low levels late week.
Interestingly, the GFS op has ridging building in the day 8-14 and more so day 9-16.
This is interesting since the CFSv2 weeklies has had that idea for quite some time.
See video for today’s discussion.
