Coldest July Day On Record For Western Kansas Today?

The current midsummer ‘cold outbreak’ should peak today as the core of the trough digs south.

Nearly 30 below normal over West Kansas on July 16th is nearly unheard of. This equates to highs struggling to hit 60, may be the coldest July day on record in this part of the country!

For those heat lovers out there, the good news is the heat Out West slides east kicking the trough out late this week. The bad news however is that more troughiness returns by late month!
