Up to 50,000 people are set to folk to Glasgow this Friday for the much anticipated Radio One Big Weekend. Although it won’t be wall to wall sunshine. I am however pleased to say that we should see a good amount of sunshine throughout the weekend with a chance of some showers. By no means a washout.
The concentration of showers and longer spells of rain appears to remain further south through the weekend which is good for the many that will spend much of the weekend outdoors. Always have the brolly handy and a coat.
FRIDAY…… Sunshine with scattered showers. High 14, Low 10
SATURDAY… Sunshine, some showers. High 15, Low 9
SUNDAY… Mix of sun and cloud, drier. High 16, Low 10
Here’s the GFS surface chart showing the plentiful showers but the bulk of which remains SOUTH of Glasgow.

The latest run of the ECMWF at 84 hrs does have WETTER on Sunday across Scotland as you can see below. Will need to keep a close eye on this.

Into next week and the pattern appears to settle some, however the GFS suggests a low pushes into the southern UK towards Tuesday and Wednesday.

Any Signs Of The Next Warm, Settled Spell?
The latest NAO charts shows the return to positive by months end into early June. This suggests the return of ridging for Western Europe.
Remember back to yesterday’s post and remember the warm, dry June the CFSv2 has for Ireland, UK and West. I believe that anytime we turn unsettled, the next spell of warm, sunny weather will be seen on the models.
GFS ensemble 7-day mean 500mb height anomalies.

Have a good one!
