It’s been a very sad past 48 hours across the Southern half of the country as supercells have spawned deadly and devastating tornadoes. Unfortunately this was a forecast that was correct. As dangerous, tornado producing storms loomed and struck the Tupelo, MS area, the SPC issued the first HIGH RISK of the season.
According to Meteorologist, Jesse Ferrell of AccuWeather there have been 63 reports of tornadoes or funnel clouds during this outbreak so far. Here’s a graphic he’s produced.

The dynamics have come together and produced the always feared, bigger and more destructive tornadoes. This was the scene out of Vilonia, AR yesterday.

Here’s the dangerous line of storms which has history of producing destructive and deadly tornadoes. As many as 3 are dead following a tornado is Alabama just hours ago.
While there’s a line of strong storms with tornadic potential, there’s a secondary squall line pushing east to the north over Illinois. This is a dynamic weather situation…

Strong storms packing damaging wind, large hail, flooding rains have hammered a large swath of the South, Southeast up into the Tennessee Valley. Nashville has seen some nasty conditions and the threat continues throughout the rest of tonight.
While the threat lingers throughout tonight, tomorrow will continue with the threat and it’s further into the Southeast including the Carolinas.
