Frigid Chicago By Michael Gustafson

The much talked about arctic blast is now beginning to push into North Dakota with sharp temperature drops behind a front. This arctic blast will not only be coldest of the winter but coldest in 4 years for many as highs go from 6 degrees tomorrow in Minneapolis to -4 on Monday. Chicago may struggle to reach 10 degrees Monday-Tuesday with lows below zero. As for Boston down to Washington DC, highs by Tuesday hold in the low to mid-20s with near zero wind chills throughout the day.

Here are my forecast highs and lows over the next few days.

CITY                                              SUNDAY         MONDAY          TUESDAY         WEDNESDAY

Fargo, ND                                       -2 / -22            -13 / -18              2 / -15                   2 / -1

International Falls, MN                   -5 / -30            -15 / -30             -4 / -25                   -2 / -8

Minneapolis, MN                             5 / -13            -4 /  -14               5 / -5                     14 / 9

Chicago, IL                                     19 / 5               10 / -3                14 / 2                    23 / 14

Indianapolis, IN                               24 / 13             20 / 4                 17 / 6                   24 / 18

Pittsburgh, PA                                 40 / 22             31 / 17               23 / 15                 21 / 18

Boston, MA                                     45 / 19             30 / 18               20 / 5                   18 / 9

New York, NY                                 46 / 25             32 / 22               25 / 12                 25 / 17

Philadelphia, PA                             48 / 28             34 / 23               25 / 14                 26 / 19

Washington DC                              50 / 29             40 / 23               26 / 16                 26 / 19

This arctic cold shot will not be the only one as the pattern shaping up promises a further 2-3 shots with each one being colder than the last over the next 2-3 weeks.
