US Outlook For Next 48 Hours

(Courtesy of The Weather Channel)

Following highs in the 90s from Minneapolis to DC, an eastbound cold front bringing showers and storms to the Mississippi Valley will continue pushing east over the next 36-48 hours. On it’s backside temps are falling 20-25 degrees from the previous 24 hours ago. While weekend highs soared well into the 90s across the Dakotas, their in the 70s today. 70s return to the Great Lakes tomorrow while the front reaches the Appalachains tomorrow firing thunderstorms up and down the Eastern coastal plain.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday we may see 1-3 inches of rain fall from NYC to Raliegh and once this kicks off the coast, we should see very nice weather with highs in the 70s, low humidity and lots of sun.

As for the Gulf Coast, thunderstorms and heavy rains will continue to impact an area from New Orleans to Florida as the stalled boundary goes nowhere over the next couple of days.

Further west, the heat maintains itself over the Deserts but this will not push north as the next storm rides into the Pacific Northwest with a trough keeping things cool and rather wet and breezy with highs stuck in the 50s and 60s.. Expect rain up and down the I-5 corridor from Seattle to Portland.

Over Texas, expect a significant cooldown, even more so than the Great Lakes.
