Unusual Rains For Calif, Severe Threat Over Idaho, Mont & Southeast, Chilly In Northeast

The overall US pattern has a Great Basin ridge pumping 90s all the way to Montana this afternoon, a new trough and storm pushing into the Pacific Northwest will setup a severe weather risk area over the Northern Rockies. A trough will deepen over the Great Lakes and extend all the way down into the Tennessee Valley where highs will be surpressed into the upper 70s/low 80s this afternoon. Hot air extends from the Deserts east through Texas. The trough cuts thicknesses over Georgia/Carolinas keeping highs only in the low 80s over the Southeast. Stronger heights over Florida support 90s.

100s CONTINUE FOR DESERT SOUTHWEST, PUMPS 90s ALL THE WAY TO MONTANA

Expect near 100 for Las Vegas and just over for Phoenix while Death Valley once again warms beyond 110 though not quite as hot as recently. Mid-90 degree spreads east across New Mexico and into central Texas. With hot air trying to push east across the South and cool air working south over the Eastern Third, a fightzone extends from Missouri southeastwards to Florida. The Lakes and Northeast trough will support highs only in the 50s and 60s for New England and these 60s extend all the way down through New York City while it’s low 70s for Philly, Baltimore and DC. Warmer air exists further south into central/southern Virginia with 80s.

NEW PNW STORM BRINGS UNUSUAL NORTH/CENT CALIFORNIA RAINS/CHILLY TEMPS

A new system pushing into the Pacific Northwest will drive wind and rain through Washington, Oregon and as this energy pushes into the hotter air surging north over Idaho and western Montana where highs will push the upper 80s/low 90s, severe weather is likely. Watch over Idaho and western Montana. Heavy snows are possible over the Rockies of DC would you believe!

The recarving trough will hold daytime readings in the very cool 50s from Seattle down through Portland while only 70s cover northern California where unusual rains extend through perhaps the Bay Area and into the Central Valley.

Sorry for the brief post tonight. I shall have more tomorrow and accompanied by a video (hopefully).
