>Todays Extremes here at the house
High 43 degrees (1.35pm) Low 32 degrees (9.54am)
RAIN/SNOW: Heavy overnight rain which dramatically turns to snow
An overnight in the mild upper 30s to near 40 degrees even around 3.30am but as colder air is driven south from the Highlands into the lowlands of central Scotland, heavy rains which wiped out snow cover here, dramatically went from rain to sleet and finally over to snow which actually began accummulating. The moderate snowfall brought a slower morning commute and a return to a white and wintry landscape which was seen here just 12 hours or so previous before the heavy rains arrived. The cooler air also brought us yet another sub-freezing morning after a mild overnight. The rest of the day saw morning snow taper off to flurries which eventually gave way to brilliant afternoon sunshine and mild temps that went into the low 40s. Those warmer temps and sunshine melted most of the covering of snow produced just a few hours earlier..

MORE SNOW IS EXPECTED TOMORROW AND THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE OF ACCUMMULATION WHICH MAY HANG AROUND FOR A TIME!
