Powerful Storm Dumps Precipitation on West

A powerful storm was pushing through California and the Southwest Monday, dumping several feet of snow on the Sierra Nevada.
In addition to the snow, rain has soaked coastal Southern California and low-elevation areas of Arizona.
The following is a list of storm total snowfall in inches as of midday Monday, LST:
Mount Rose Ski Area, Calif.: 23.0
Kirkwood Ski Area, Calif.: 32.0
Alpine Meadows, Calif: 27.0
Heavenly Valley, Calif.: 24.0
Squaw Valley, Calif.: 22.0
Tahoe Ski Resort, Calif.: 22.0
Camino, Calif.: 17.5
Buena Vista, Colo.: 14.6
Kingvale, Calif.: 29.0
Lakeview, Nev.: 19.5

Fierce Cold Invades the Western US… –Below-zero temperatures and wind chill values to nearly 40 below zero were occurring over the northern Rockies and the interior Northwest Monday. If felt like 35 below zero at Laramie, Wyoming during the morning hours Monday, while the actual temperature hovered near zero. Over the weekend, temperatures struggled to pass the 32-degree mark in Seattle, Wash. and Portland, Ore. Typical high temperatures for early December are in the mid- to upper-40s. The frigid air was being drawn into a potent storm system over the Four Corners. The storm is poised to bring a dangerous blizzard to the Plains at midweek.
