Rest of Europe
As per yesterday’s video, the weather is looking very promising indeed through the next 10 days as high pressure builds and settles westward over the NE Atlantic extending into the UK and western European mainland. This is largely down to a deep trough that’s dropped into eastern Europe which has brought welcome heat relief. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)] Check […]
Well it’s looking like modelling is in good agreement about the ridge, that’s now centred over the UK and Ireland will hold through the next 10-16 days in the means. It’s all thanks to a trough dropping and deepening over Russia down into the Ukraine where the heat has been strongest of late. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)] […]
As expected, it’s been a rather unsettled start this week with widespread showers and storms around. Especially on mainland Europe where those storms have been severe and deadly. A trough is now bringing relief to eastern areas and in turn, the mean ridge is now shifting west into the Low Countries, France and the UK […]
We’ve seen (by far), some of the wildest weather in many years across parts of France, Germany into Poland with powerful storms blustering into mighty MCS’s. Last night was no exception with 9cm diameter hail falling within one MCS over France while another system in west Germany killed one with over 21k lightning strikes within […]
We continue to see two main drivers in our weather pattern this week. The large hot dome parked over the heart of the continent while a low continues to spin, stuck in place to the west of Ireland. These two systems will continue to keep things warm, humid and stormy with the front separating low […]
Impressive storms blew up bang on schedule yesterday across a broad area of Western Europe from the Republic of Ireland to Germany. The strongest storms erupted over the near continent with supercells impacting Belgium. Those supercells produced large hail which interrupted the friendly between Belgium and Tunisia. Here was the scene once players were taken off […]
As you’ll be well aware, thunderstorms are now pushing northward over the UK along an active frontal zone associated with low pressure out at sea. Warm, humid air is fuelling these drenching storms, triggered by the front and cold air at 20,000ft. Nothing much else to add as I’ve posted on this a lot in […]
Conditions come together this weekend for some strong thunderstorms. Thunderstorms which are likely to produce flooding rains, frequent lightning (in places), large hail, gusty winds and perhaps a few funnels or weak tornadoes. Warm, moist air riding beneath a cold mid upper level with a strong front pushing through sets the stage up nicely. volatile […]
Sorry for no written post yesterday. Was out all day and ended up not getting a chance to post. This weekend certainly looks volatile for Ireland, UK and western flank of the European mainland. If you live in this region of the world, be aware of some rather ‘active’ weather on the way. TOP IMAGE: Courtesy/Credit: NOAA [s2If […]
We have the type of pattern right now across the continent in which low pressure sits pretty much stuck off the SW coast of Ireland and NW of Portugal, held in place by a dominant and sprawling upper level ridge sitting over most of Europe. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)] While central, eastern and northern parts of the continent see much warmer, […]
