Scotland

Now that we’re back into a predictable, westerly flow, strongly influenced by the Atlantic, there is little change between day and night. Today is a dull, damp and windy day. With a westerly wind comes a mild flow with plenty of moist air streaming into western areas but with shelter in the east, it’s drier with some glimmers of sunshine. Temperatures rise to 11 or 12C in the West, perhaps 12 to 13C in the brighter east. Cloud, dampness and a west wind continues through tonight, always drier in the east. Lows no cooler than 6C, sticking at 8, 9C in the west. Tomorrow should be brighter, with the flow turning slightly more northwesterly as a small ridge separating one low from the next builds in. This shall bring temporary respite from the persistent cloud and drizzly rain. Highs 12-13C. Tomorrow night turns wet and windy as the next front sweeps in off the Atlantic.

England

It’s another fairly decent day by November standards with a mild westerly flow sending temperatures beyond the seasonal average. While most should be largely dry with the exception of northern areas, there will be a lot of cloud to contend with but likewise there should be some decent breaks by late afternoon, particularly for areas east of the Pennines. Through tonight and it largely dry with the exception of the Northwest, however skies will be cloudy for most. The combo of cloud and a west wind means temperatures fall no lower than 8 or 9C for most. Not far from the normal high for this time of year! Tomorrow looks brighter with less wind. This is thanks to a small ridge building in on the backside of a low which has been dominating over the past couple of days. Temperatures should rise to a pleasant 11 or 12C, feeling a little warmer in the sun and less wind. By tomorrow night, the next Atlantic low swings a cold front into the NW and this will eventually sweep southeast through Friday bringing plenty of wind and rain.

Wales

The weather across Wales in very much a west to east split thanks to a mild but rather moist westerly flow. Through the rest of today expect the windiest conditions along the coast, especially up over Anglesey where winds are touching gale-force. Always wettest along western upslopes but if your in the east or south of the country, you’ll see less rain and even some bright or sunny spells. Highs of 10-12C. Through tonight and it’s almost a continuation of today with plenty of cloud and damp air flowing in off the Irish Sea. Lows 7-9C. Tomorrow will be drier and brighter with less wind, highs once again slightly above normal at 10-12C. Tomorrow night, drier, less breezy and with some clearer spells in the east, some spots may see a touch of frost with lows dipping into low single figures. Milder in western areas at 6 or 7C. Turning wet and windy again by Friday as a front sweeps in from the northwest.

Northern Ireland

The west wind will be the dominant feature through the remainder of today and tonight as it will support mild temperatures and cloud with some light and patchy drizzle here and there. Lows no lower than 6 to 8C tonight. Tomorrow looks to be a better day with less wind, more in the way of brightness and highs of 10-12C. Through tomorrow night and a band of rain sweeps in from the northwest bringing a wet and windy night for all.

Ireland

The west wind is the noticeable feature of the weather throughout Ireland and it is this which will continue to keep a rather grey, gloomy theme with some scattered light rain. Despite the cloud, patchy rain and stiff breeze, with a gale blowing along the exposed Atlantic coast, it’s mild at 10-12C. Tonight stays cloudy, damp and breezy with lows no lower than 6-9C. Tomorrow will be another mostly cloudy day with less showers and perhaps an odd bright or sunny spell developing through the afternoon. Less wind than of late. Highs 10-11C. By tomorrow night and Friday, wind and rain increases as the next front arrives and sweeps southeast across the country.
