Drier, Brighter, Warmer Thursday On Tap But A Further Inch Of Rain To Fall Across South/Midlands Friday

I’m sure your starting to get sick and tired of all this rain, I understand where your coming from I really do. The slight good news is that we have a drier night on tap for many and where skies clear and with winds light, we could see lows dip in rural areas to 6 or 7C tonight, this would be the first fresher night in quite some time. Towns and cities generally 9-12C.

During Thursday it should be a fairly decent day with bright or sunny spells developing for much of the UK. Highs will respond well with strong sunshine at this time of year and so highs should push 21C in London and 16 or 17C in Glasgow. Rains move into the Southwest of England during tonight and this progresses slowly across the South later tomorrow and into Friday.

By Friday, the low and it’s rain bearing front will creep steadily north into the Midlands and stall and so the concern is high for further flooding given the saturated ground and the fact that a further 1-2 inches of rain is expected.

For Northern England, Scotland and much of Ireland, we should see a couple of decent dry days with an odd shower popping up here and there, however some decent spells of sunshine looks to be on offer Thursday and Friday.

By the time we get to the weekend, it looks like the rains will continue with heavy bursts in areas. Western Scotland and the Northwest of England will likely get in on some rain.

While glancing out at early next week, the models continue to show ridging and a surge of warmth pushing up from the Azores, we should see highs boost the mid to upper 20s across the South and Southeast of England but it’s once you go north of the border, do skies turn gloomy and increasing wet.
