>Today’s Extremes here at my house
High 42 degrees (7.48pm) Low 25 degrees (2.59am)
RAIN/SNOW: Light rain falling on sub-freezing ground.
A balmy end to what has been a treacherous frozen/liquid combo as sub-freezing surfaces recieved rain which added ice to an heavily frosted, cold ground. As the surface remained below freezing up until late afternoon, warm Atlantic air was crossing over the shallow, cold layer and thus rain was falling onto a upper 20-degree surface. Frosty ground became icy making for hazerdous road travel as well as walking on pavements which quickly became like an icerink. By dinnertime, temps rose from 32 at 3pm to 35 at 5.33pm to a balmy peak of 42 degrees at 7.30-7.48pm… We are likely to cool back towards the mid 30s by sunrise tomorrow but another “milder” day is in store for tomorrow before a cooling trend kicks in tomorrow night and through the rest of this week as Europe’s colder air mass tries to cross the North Sea.
