Major Flash Flood Situation Unfolding Over Southern Plains, GFS Catching Onto Major Cold Trough

We have a highly volatile situation unfolding over the Southern Plains through the next 5 days as an upper low swings out of the Southwest into Texas. As it moves out over the plains, it shall plug very moisture rich air from the Gulf. The connection between the two systems will present a potential major flash flood problem with a widespread 4-8 inches possible, locally 12+”.

Remember I showed you yesterday’s ECMWF with the major Eastern trough towards the end of the month in response to the twin typhoon recurves. Well the GFS is now catching on to what the ECMWF has been hinting at late next week with the potential for a major storm system bringing heavy rain and backside snow which opens the door to the first arctic outbreak of the season.
