Scotland
It’s been a largely fine, dry and mostly sunny Friday across the bulk of the country except for the Northern Isles and NE corner of the mainland where it’s been cloudy, chilly with outbreaks of rain. A fine evening to come for western parts from Dumfries up to Glasgow and into the NW Highlands but further east the cloud builds, heralding change on the way.
Through tonight it turns cloudy and eventually wet over the Borders with rain increasing in area and intensity over Moray and Aberdeenshire. Eventually the rain spreads from the Borders west into Dumfries and Galloway and up into the Central Lowlands which sets the scene for Saturday. Lows tonight will be fairly uniform and milder than of late at 5-7C.
Saturday will be very wet across southern, central and eastern areas, drier but windy across the NW. Local flooding is highly possible over Dumfries and Galloway, the Borders up into Grampian with 1-2 inches expected locally. Highs 10-15C.
Sunday is looking MUCH better and warmer air is building with highs particularly over inland western parts nearing 18 or 19C, cooler in the east. Easterly flow will draw warmer air in from southern Scandinavia, Denmark and Germany.
England
It’s a largely fine, dry and bright Friday afternoon across much of England although there are heavy, thundery showers popping up over the Southwest while cloud is drifting onto the East Coast. In between it’s a mix of sun and cloud but clouds will start to fill in across more central areas through the late afternoon, highs range from a cooler 9 or 10C along the coast to perhaps 13-15C in the sunnier spots across the Midlands and South.
Through this evening the frontal system sitting out over the North Sea will advance into eastern areas bringing an increasingly wet night from East Anglia up to Northumberland and the rain spreads across the Midlands northward. It stays drier in the South. Lows range from 2 or 3C beneath clear skies over inland Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somserset, nearer 6-8C elsewhere.
Saturday is looking very wet with a high chance of local flooding and poor driving conditions over Northern England. Upwards of 2 inches may fall along upslope areas of the North Pennines. It will be somewhat drier and brighter down into the south Midlands, South and Southwest and it’s here where temperatures will be best at 13 to 15C, nearer 9-10C under the cloud and rain.
Sunday is a much better day across the North and Midlands, cloudier with outbreaks of rain down towards the South and Southeast. It’s looking warmer with highs near to 20 or 21C in sheltered western areas.
Wales
It’s a showery afternoon across the South of the country with torrential downpours locally but further north and it’s a much sunnier and settled picture, highs range from 12-15C.
Through tonight and showers ease with clearing skies across the South, that may allow rural frost to form while in the north, clouds will increase as a front sags south. Lows range from 2-3C in the clearer South, 6 to 8C in the cloudier North.

Sunday is looking sunny across much of the country with perhaps some fair weather cumulus developing through the afternoon as temperatures warm towards 18-20C in some spots. Warmer air is moving in from the near continent.
Northern Ireland
It’s not a bad Friday afternoon at all across NI with lots of bright or sunny skies and just an odd shower popping up in southern parts, that sets the scene for a pleasant evening if your heading out and about but make the most of it, a frontal system will draw a band of heavy rain across the North Channel overnight, setting the stage for Saturday. Lows tonight take an early dip but recover overnight, 4-7C.
A frontal system sitting over the country tomorrow will be a very damp, dreary day with lots of rain. This may well cause travel issues and poor visibility, coupled with surface spray on the roads. Some parts may see upwards of an inch of rain through tomorrow.
Sunday is a much better day with warming temperatures in the sunshine. While we see 10-13C tomorrow, it may get nearer to 17 or 18C on Sunday with sunny skies.
Ireland
It’s a showery afternoon across Munster and parts of the South while the best of the sunny skies can be found across the North this evening. Through tonight and any showers from this afternoon should die away and that leaves a clear night with temperatures dipping towards 3 or 4C in the countryside, 5-7C in the towns and cities.
Saturday is looking damp, cloudy and breezy across Northern parts while down over the Midlands and South it’s drier and brighter day with an odd shower possible through the afternoon. Highs range from 11-15C.
Sunday will see drier, brighter skies in the North but cloud and even some showers or longer spells of rain can be expected in the South. Temperatures will be on the rise, particularly in the North where it may get close to 17C in some areas.
Have a great weekend.
