Well I could pretty much copy and paste yesterday’s forecast and put it into today’s because there is no real change in the pattern. Conditions remain much the same with a still very cold east flow, albeit it continues to ease and night skies are becoming clearer than of late. That means nights are likely to be even colder than we’ve seen. Towns and cities expect 0 to -3C, -3 to -6C in outlying areas. Where there’s snowcover, we may see -10C and over the next 4 or 5 nights, we should see these values repeat themselves. By day, it’s largely bright or sunny and with lighter winds and sunnier skies, it should warm towards 5-7C, perhaps 4C where snow lies. Always a chance of snow showers, particularly in the east but these may well spread west providing light, temporary coverings like we saw widely this morning. However even before sunrise, this tends to dissappear as the ground warms just as quick as it cools. Do be aware of a significant ice risk by night into the morning’s as snow melts by day but then refreezes quickly after dark.[s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)]
England
A largely quiet but cold night to come with a frost. The greatest threat through this evening and towards the Fri AM commute will be ICE as melting snow by day refreezes. If you live in eastern counties there’s always a chance of an odd snow shower blown in from the North Sea but all in all it’s a mix of clear and cloud. Where clearest, towns and cities may dip to -2 or -3C, -5 or -6C in rural areas but -8 to -10C is possible where snow lies.
Tomorrow, like today will be largely fine, dry but cold, although with more in the way of sunshine and lighter winds, it feels a little more bearable with highs of 4 to 7C.
The weekend appears much the same with a sun/cloud mix, some snow showers blowing into eastern areas, highs of 4-7C, lows 0 to -7C right through the Easter weekend.
Wales
Like the rest of Britain, it will be another cold or very cold night to come with a widespread frost with a significant ice risk, particularly by morning following today’s melt and then tonight’s refreeze. Lows tonight will dip to between -1 and -3C in towns and cities, -4 to -6C in rural parts but -10C is possible where snow remains on the ground.
Tomorrow will be much like today with a mix of sun and cloud with just a slight chance of an odd snow shower. Feeling raw in the east wind still but where sheltered, highs may reach a ‘balmy’ 7C.
Staying cold but dry through the Easter weekend.
Northern Ireland
Temperature sank to at least -6C last night across the snowfields of Tyrone and we may see slightly colder tonight with -7, perhaps -8C not out of the question beneath the clear skies, light winds and over the snowcovered ground. Towns and cities will again dip to between -1 and -3C.
Through Friday it remains chilly but out of the wind and in that late March sunshine and it may get up to 6 or 7C which will feel pleasant, an odd flurry is possible along the Antrim and Down coast but for the majority it stays dry and bright.
Staying much the same right through your Easter weekend.
Ireland
The relentless cold shows no sign of mercy across the Reblublic as well as the UK. Another cold one tonight with lows under clear skies dipping to -5 or -6C over the Midlands, towns and cities -1 to -3C. Friday, like today will be largely dry, bright and with a slight breeze blowing in from the east, it will take the edge of the 5-7C highs but feeling pleasant where winds are light to calm. Staying cold but largely settled right through Easter weekend.
