The presence of weak frontal systems is bringing largely cloudy skies and with a nagging east winds blowing off the cold North Sea waters, it will feel fairly cool if your out and about today. Some light and patchy rain or drizzle can be found up the Southern Uplands and this may advance into the Central Lowlands later, staying dry but dull across the Highlands.

Lows tonight dip to 3-4C, feeling cooler in the breeze.

Into Thursday and it’s much of the same with light, patchy, sporadic rain or drizzle here and there, not particularly heavy and certainly not enough to soak the ground. Wind will continue to be noticible, especially with the feel of it.

Much the same for Friday, any brightness will be confined to western areas that are sheltered from the wind.

England

It’s been a largely cloudy day across England with temperatures down on yesterday and closer to average for early March at between 6-11C. Just the odd patch of light rain here and there, breezy in far northern counties, elsewhere fairly quiet.

Into tonight and it stays mainly dry except for southern counties where some mainly light rain is expected to lift north from the channel bringing a damp night with perhaps mist and fog for areas north of Birmingham. Lows range from 4-5C in the north while it stays mild at 8-10C across the south.

Thursday is looking cloudy with some light and patchy rain scattered across southern and central areas as well as the northeast corner. Highs near average at 7-11C.

Further spells of scattered rain on Friday with southern and northeast areas seeing the most of anything that falls.

Wales

After a stunning day Tuesday, we return to reality today with much more cloud along with outbreaks of light and patchy rain, nothing particularly heavy.

Thanks to a series of weak fronts advancing northeast from a low spinning over the Atlantic, Thursday right through till the weekend looks largely cloudy with waves of ‘light and patchy’ rain, could see some heavy bursts on Friday into the weekend but it’s always a scattered affair, nothing particularly organised.

Highs by day range from 5-9C, lows 3-6C.

Northern Ireland

It’s a cloudy and damp night across many parts of Northern Ireland thanks to the presence of a nearby frontal system, a keen easterly breeze will make tonights low of 3-5C feel cooler.

Tomorrow, Friday and through the upcoming weekend, it’s looking generally cloudy with further outbreaks of rain from time to time as more fronts push up from the southwest. Highs generally 5-7C but feeling colder in the east wind.

Ireland

The pattern through the next several days will be one dominated by heavy cloud cover along with light and patchy rain for many areas. Temperatures hold at 5-8C with winds mainly light except along the coast. Lows by night don’t dip much below 4 or 5C thanks to all the cloud.
