WED 14 NOV: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Written by on November 14, 2012 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

Following a rather miserable day with a lot of heavy cloud and steady rain across the Central Lowlands extending into the South, this evening should see this rain band associated with a stalled front, finally shift south. Clear skies in the north will produce a frost while extensive mist and fog will form through the Central Lowlands. Lows range from 7C in South, 4 or 5C across the Central Lowlands, near freezing or below in North, tonight.

Tomorrow’s a cloudy and damp day in the South, a mix of sun and cloud following a slow burn off from the overnight mist/fog across the Central Lowlands, dry and bright across the North following a chilly start. Highs range from 11C in the South, 7-9C in the North.

Friday starts dry but a band of heavy rain along with a strengthening wind will already be affecting the Northwest Highlands, this next front will advance south through the day.

Saturday looks changeable with heavy showers accompanied by a strong wind.

England

While low cloud lingers through a large part of the night from Cumbria down through the Manchester area and extending into Birmingham, for the South a clearer start to the night means earlier development of mist and fog. Through the overnight, the cloud should thin and break up and so the dense fog is likely to extend north, covering many parts by dawn tomorrow.

Thursday may see that mist and fog linger as it will be deep. The low sun angle and lack of strength has a lot to do with the persistency of this fog through the day. Some areas may see this fog lift into cloud. For some it will be bright. Where sunniest, expect highs of 11 or 12C, where fog lingers throughout the day, highs may struggle to 5 or 6C.

Friday will see the increase of cloud and eventually wind and rain starting in northern areas which will drop south into Saturday morning.

Wales

A mostly cloudy afternoon will make way for a mixture of cloud and clear spells tonight. Expect areas of mist and fog to develop and these could become dense. Lows range from 7C where cloudy, 3 or 4C where clear.

Tomorrow is looking largely fine but there’s a general mix of cloud and brighter spells. Just an odd threat of a shower but on the whole it’s largely dry. Highs down on today’s 12 or 13, it will be closer to 10 or 11C.

Friday starts off fine and dry but conditions will go down hill later on as wind and rain increases from the northwest. This makes way for a wet and windy Saturday.

Northern Ireland

After a rather gloomy and damp day, the stubborn rain band will sink south overnight but rain may linger across the south. Clearing skies in the North means a chance of patchy frosty and fog formation. Lows tonight range from 7C beneath the cloud and rain, nearer 2 or 3C where clearest.

Tomorrow will be another rather cloudy day with drizzle here and there. Highs of 10C.

Friday starts off ok but as the day wears on, so wind and rain spreads down from Donegal.

Ireland

It’s been a generally cloudy day across Erie and through tonight the cloud lingers for many. Where skies clear and this may happen across particularly the South, expect mist and fog to form. Lows tonight range from 3-7C.

Tomorrow will be another day with a lot of cloud but we may see a few more areas of sunshine. Staying generally dry with highs down on recent days at 9-11C.
