THURS 8 NOV: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Written by on November 8, 2012 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

Following a damp and breezy night last night, today is much better thanks to a ridge which has settled in between two lows. Enjoy the brief spell of brighter, calmer weather because it’s all about to go downhill once again tonight as the next low swings a cold front down across the country. It’s a wet and windy night for all but the east coast.

Tonight will be dry to start but the band of rain will spread into the Northwest Highlands mid evening and then will advance south through tonight. Lows tonight hold at 5-8C in the west but where clearer and with lighter winds in the east, lows may dip to 3C.,

By 9am Friday I expect the heaviest and most prolonged rain to exit most areas and left behind will be a legacy of heavy and blustery showers. Winds will remain fresh to strong out of the SW. Highs range from 10-12C.

England

Thanks to a small bubble of high pressure separating an exiting low and one approaching Iceland, we have seen a fairly pleasant day across England with bright or sunny spells combined with relatively mild temperatures, these conditions set the scene for a cooler night to come with mist and fog developing in areas as the temperature drops.

While towns/cities fall to around 5 or 6C, in outlying areas, it may get down to 3 or 4C in places.

By early tomorrow morning, cloud, rain and an increasing SW wind will affect northern areas and through the day, a band of rain along with a strong southwest wind will push south over the Midlands and by late in the day will likely bring blustery showers to the Southeast. Highs tomorrow range from 9-11C.

Wales

Like across much of England today, it’s been a rather pleasant and dry day with decent spells of sunshine. With light winds, combined with the sunshine it’s felt quite comfortable out there. Unfortunately there are changes on the way and that will come tonight as a cold front drops down from the northwest, initially affecting northern parts but through the overnight, the rain will cover the country and this will be accompanied by strong southwest winds.

Tonight’s lows drop to 3 or 4C where skies stay clearest for longest but for most 5 to 8C.

Tomorrow’s a wet and windy day with highs ranging from 10-13C.

Northern Ireland

Following a somewhat cloudy but dry day across Ulster, tonight will see the arrival of the next front which will bring a wet and windy night to all. Lows should dip no lower than 5C tonight.

Tomorrow will see morning rains clear, giving way to a mix of sunshine and blustery skies. Feeling coder as skies clear on the backside of the front and winds turn more northwesterly. Highs range from 8-11C.
