Scotland
Following a pleasant past few days throughout much of Scotland, it’s all change come later tonight with the return of wet and windy weather. On a plus side, if you don’t like the chilly conditions, especially at night, then you’ll like the push of milder air working in.
Clear, Cold & Frosty For The Bonfire Tonight…
Tonight will start off clear, cold and frosty with many falling to freezing early, perhaps as early as 7pm. Most should see a frost before 10 or 11pm and while clouds begin to fill skies across the far North, the chill should intensify from the Lowlands on into Lanarkshire, Dumfriesshire and the Borders. Here we may see rural areas widely dip to between -2 and -4C but once we enter the early hours, cloud, wind and rain will spread down across the Lowlands and eventually the South. By dawn tomorrow it’s a wet, dreary and windy picture and this will carry through the day. Highs should rise to a milder 10 or 11C with a fresh to strong westerly wind.
England
It’s been a fine, dry and bright day for a large swath of England but despite that sunshine, low heights aloft and a northerly breeze has kept that chill in the air with highs struggling to reach 7 or 8C from Cumbria to Birmingham and only 9C for London.
Tonight will bring great conditions for bonfire displays across the country but you’ll want to wrap up warm. Following a cool day and the lack of cloudcover tonight means a quick drop in temperatures with daytime warmth quickly escaping back to space. Many outwith towns and cities and away from the coast can expect a chance of frost with northern areas extending down through the Midlands and into south-central parts may see lows dip to -2C in places, locally -3C.
After sunrise tomorrow, clouds, rain and wind arrives from the north and this should extend south through Tuesday morning, reaching most areas by late morning. While temperatures increase from recent days to 9 to 11C for most, the wind will make it feel raw still.
Wales
Following a partly cloudy and showery afternoon, tonight should be fairly dry with clear spells developing. So, it should be a decent night for the bonfire but wrap up warm as temperatures will take a dive into low single figures and during the overnight, patchy frost will develop. You may want to watch for an odd patch of ice following today’s showers. By morning expect to see clouds build in the north and these will work south through the morning, drawing rain down also with a strengthening NW wind. Highs will be slightly up on today with highs nearer 10 or 11C but factor in a fresh winds and it will feel rather cold still.
Northern Ireland
For your bonfire night tonight, it’s clear, calm and cold, perfect conditions for you and your family to be out and about but wrap up warm as lows drop towards 2 or 3C, especially away from town and city centres. an early frost is likely to develop but late tonight into early tomorrow morning and skies cloud over, rain and wind will eventually arrive from the northwest.
This sets the scene for a cloudy, breezy and rainy day. Though temperatures rise somewhat from today to around 10C for most thanks to more of a west wind than north, the fresh wind will make it still feel cold.
Ireland
Your first day of the workweek has been a largely fine, dry and sunny one but chilly in the fresh northwest breeze, this has kept temperatures stuck at just 7-9C today. The sunny skies of today will give way to a starry one tonight and that means falling temperatures and a widespread frost. Expect lows to dip to 1-2C with freezing or below for many rural areas.
By morning, clouds will cloud over, starting in the north and west and eventually filling most areas by noon. Expect rain to spread down from Ulster and Donegal, this will be light and patchy aboard a stiffening west wind. Though highs will be warmer than recent days at around 10C, expect the wind to hold onto that raw feel.
