Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Carolinas Brace For Isaac Leftovers, Flooding is Likely For Some!

While Isaac may seen as though it’s decaying fast and there’s going to be nothing left within the next 36 hours, think again!

The tropical moisture still holding on with the circulation that was once Isaac will spread east into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Monday through Wednesday and particularly Tuesday and Wednesday this moisture will merge with a cold front and plenty of warm and very humid air flowing up from the South, I do expect some pretty significant rains up and down the East Coast from New England stretching all the way down to the Carolinas within the next 1-3 days.

‘Training’ thunderstorms could be an issue with possible 1 inch per hour rains underneath some of the heavier cells. A good 2-4 inches looks likely up and down the I-95 corridor with locally higher amounts possible and these rains will cause travel delays with surface flooding on roadways etc so it’s going to be a rough next few days ahead. This system has been quite the troublemaker ever since it struck the Louisiana coast Thursday night, producing flooding rains from Louisiana up through the Mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley (along with severe weather) over the course of this weekend and will now set it’s sights on the East Coast. Don’t be surprised if this remaining moisture causes a lot of problems up and down the coastal plain as it re-energizes with the warmth and humidity and the front.

Here’s the QPF 3 day precip forecast.
