WASHINGTON IN MIDST OF BUMPER SNOW YEAR AND A MONSTER LOOMS THIS WEEKEND…. STAY TUNED TO THIS POST FOR UPDATING…
It was just last winter and the year before, oh and the year before that.. all but a scant few inches pettered the streets of the nations capital as well as much of the Eastern third. Up in Boston and throughout New England, they have enjoyed some good snows, even record breaking but milder winters have plaqued the Mid-Atlantic region and snow was all but becoming a thing of the past in many peoples minds, forecasts calling for above normal snows and below normal temps were scoffed at by many but sure enough this winter so far has been a bumper year even if no more snow fell, however with the way things are going I would not be surprised if another double the amount of snow falls before all is said and done this winter for this city as the pattern looks stunning for it.
This winter could not have a greater contrast to the past 3 winter seasons. DC only just over the past 12 hours have recieved yet more snow, on top of the past weekends 6.4 inches and the December record-breaker. Indeed, over 2 feet of snow has fallen on the Washington metro this winter and a possible Major system expected over this weekend may dump a further 8-14 inches on the DC area with locally 30 inches amounts
A 1-2 foot snowstorm is expected from Richmond, Va to Trenton, NJ with some areas receiving perhaps 25-35 inch amounts where the most concentrated bands align, they could perhaps even bring some thundersnow and amounts which top 2-4 inches per hour…
Thursday Evening Update
I am forecasting at least 1 foot of snow for both Washington DC and Philadelphia
I do see a good potential for at least a foot of snow for both the cities of Washington and Philadelphia but there are even some suburbs of both cities that may get between 14-18 inches of snow and some locations such as the higher elevations of Va and western MD may top 30 inches of snow…
JOE BASTARDI: Predicts wild wind as well as heavy snow across central and south Jersey making for bad conditions…
I hope to get some finer meteorological detail on a seperate blog asap….
Stay tuned for more info later tonight!!
Thanks for reading.
