You know it’s cold when cars and trucks are spewing out exhuast fumes, smokes stakes produce vast clouds and steam rises off buildings you never noticed before. That was the sight I saw this morning as I drove across the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow around 11.15 this morning with a cold, misty air and temperatures still in the teens.

It was a cold night across the Central Belt and, no, the urban heat island didn’t help much since Edinburgh enjoyed shivering down to 13 degrees (-11C). My official low bottomed out at 13 degrees whilst Glasgow hit 16 degrees.

Today didn’t see much in the way of recover from the coldest morning in years across the Central Lowlands and to my surprise the temperature was only at 15 degrees here at the house by 11.45am and for the high it only warmed to 23 degrees with mist hanging over the cold snow covered fields..

Thanks for reading.
