High 42 degrees (6.05pm) Low 37 degrees (5.50am)
RAIN/SNOW: None
After a mild evening last night as temperatures rose from the 32 degree mark around 3pm yesterday to the low 40s by late evening last night after a day which saw rain fall on top of frozen ground which actually added ice to the ground, a possible, rare freezing drizzle event. It was 40.2 degrees as of 2.28am this morning under mostly clear skies with a light breeze blowing. That breeze along with a maritime air mass in place, held temps up for the most part but as the overnight wore on, winds generally lightened to calm and thus under clear skies, the Glasgow area and points just south of the city as well as over higher ground, experienced lows drop off to at or slightly below freezing. Glasgow itself was around 40 at 3am and by 8am a frost had formed and the air was around or just slightly below freezing. The reduction in wind likely allowed the cooling to take place. A day overall dominated by cloudiness and outbreaks of sun, some long sunny spells were enjoyed this afternoon, remained mild at around 40 to 43 degrees. A cooler air is set to effect Scotland the rest of this week with already as of 10.30pm the temp is 38 degrees and will likely hit freezing by sunrise tomorrow, a frost is expected every night for the rest of the work week.
