Following the previous mention of late season snow and cold Fri-Sat 2 days ago, we’re still on track. Watching a cold front sink south over Scotland this evening. This will have rain, sleet and snow on it and behind it, a distinctly icy feel with some brightness coupled with wintry showers across Scotland and N England and these not solely confined to high ground.
Yellow warning for snow is in affect this evening through tomorrow morning.

So, LOW LEVEL snowfall? This is a pretty cold air mass in the mid levels and within the heavier bursts of precip, snow may mix to low levels for a time.
Watching also for the potential of snow through the Midlands for a time later tomorrow into tomorrow night as a low moving up from Cornwall meets the cold air coming south. This may not be solely confined to hills, especially after dark.

Once that front clears England and Wales, heights build from the west and settles the atmosphere down through the weekend promoting cold, frosty nights and a chance of -8C where snow cover remains.

Looks like a cool but dry and bright start to next week as high pressure holds Mon-Wed next week.

Any Sign Of Summer On The Horizon?
Given the fact that the polar stratosphere remains warm, I suspect the ‘shadow over summer’ shall continue for probably the foreseeable future, perhaps much of May.
Initial 50mb temps

240 hours. No change.
