In the wake of another front, a cool, dry high is providing beautiful sunny skies from Chicago to Washington up to the Canadian Maritimes.

The next few mornings are sure to be chilly throughout the Northeast with a nice setup for late season frost with radiational cooling.

Forecasted lows tonight and tomorrow night.

However, this chill won’t last and change is already occurring further west as a storm system moves onto the West Coast.

This eventual trough will build heights dramatically into the Great Lakes and push out the chilly air.

Nice dry spell too.

The storm system will of course bring heavy rain, mountain snow and strong winds through the Pacific Northwest down into the Four Corners region.

The cut off trough which gets carved out over the Four Corners late week becomes equally as impressive as the ridge it pumps ENE. The deep upper low not just brings a spring-like air mass up through the Great Lakes and Ontario (by no means the warmest air mass), it’s all eyes on how much snow falls on Denver and Front Range this weekend.

As the big system slides through New Mexico, notice the reluctance for the now system over Texas, to depart the Southeast. Lows west and east of Texas will act as a hose, drawing on rich, juicy air from the Gulf. A soaking pattern for Texas and up through the Plains next 5 days.
