Now that is a cold wind out there this morning. The easterly blowing off Denmark will contain a mix of rain, sleet and snow with an increasingly turn over to snow as Saturday progresses.

Current radar shows moisture streaming into eastern Scotland while moisture from the channel low spreads into southern England. Could well see some snow on the leading edge.

I’m not going to go into the details of the rest of this weekend or indeed the start of next week since the details are on the video and in recent posts but I want to look more at the mid and later half of next week because it’s easy to be laid into thinking we warm up as an Atlantic low sweeps in Wednesday, however there is a lot of cold air ahead and even behind and so this could bring snow on it’s leading and rear.

Take a look at the below ECMWF thickness behind the main cold front as well as the 850mb temps which show just as cold air behind as in front.
