To expand a little on last night’s brief post, it looks as though we have a decent Nor’easter set to impact the Northeast late next week. The first which may bring some snow to the high elevations of Pennsylvania and New England but before we get there, a chilly high settling into the region late weekend […]

Most of us are watching Gonzalo carefully as it heads UK-bound early next week but as for the here and now, we’ve got a mild, moist Azores air mass in place, drawn in by stiff southwest winds blowing along a long fetch cold front. Lows this morning didn’t get below 16.8C at Shoreham Airport. That’s above normal […]

For those of you living in the US wishing for some weather, here’s what the models are sniffing out next week. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)] Interesting little Nor’easter for East while West Coast gets hit by wind, rain and mountain snow, even down into central CA. Plentiful rainfall next 7 days for both Northwest and Northeast as well […]
As of 6pm, Hurricane Gonzalo remains a dangerous and potentially destructive Category 3 storm with an eye a mere 40 miles off Bermuda. Sustained winds remain at 115 mph with higher gusts. Pressure is still 949mb. This storm is likely to produce damage rivalling that of Fabian back in 2003 which was the last major hit on the island. Winds have already […]
Forget the seasonal forecast models (to an extent), they excite one minute and drop you into depression the next! When making up a seasonal forecast whether it be summer or winter, you MUST go back and look at what’s gone before and why it happened that way. [s2If current_user_can(access_s2member_level1)] A lot can decide on one […]

The tropics are stirring with Hurricane Gonzalo now a powerful Cat 4 storm taking aim at Bermuda then Newfoundland. My reason for mentioning this in the Europe post today is because we’re probably going to have Gonzalo strike our shores as a cold core low next week. One of MANY that will take aim over the […]
