FRI 6 DEC: UK & IRELAND WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on December 6, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

It’s turning increasingly cloudy with an area of rain, sleet and snow pushing into Western Scotland just now. With the cold air in place, expect to see snow for a time even to low levels before milder air pushes in and yes the temperature will rise through the overnight. Clearer and so colder in the East. Lows 1C in the West but close to -6C in Grampian glens.

Saturday is looking largely damp, cloudy and breezy but a good deal milder than today at between 6-9C, could see some bright spells through the afternoon.

Sunday should shake off the breeze, cloud and outbreaks of rain later in the day.

Monday is looking pretty decent as high pressure tries to build in and yes, mild for the time of year.

England

It’s a mixed evening across England as a frontal pushes east. That frontal system is pushing milder air back in but as it bumps up against the colder air stuck in place, there is a change of snow over the Pennines but it falls mostly as sleet or a cold rain down at low levels. It’s mild’s up nicely in the Southwest and West this evening with temperatures back up at 7 or 8C but further east and it’s cold and likely at or below freezing to the east of the Pennines. Evening the milder air takes over.

Saturday looks cloudy and damp to start but I am optimistic that some bright or sunny spells should peek through the cloud deck during the afternoon. Highs back up at 7-11C.

Sunday looks largely fine, dry with some sunshine, perhaps some cloudier, damper conditions in the Northwest but the mild theme continues with highs of 8-12C.

It’s looking like a decent start to next week too as high pressure rules.

Wales

It’s a milder night than last as milder Atlantic air spreads across Wales this evening, boosting temperatures back up into the 5-8C range with some patchy rain around and the breeze will be fresh out of the WSW.

Saturday is looking not too bad with a mix of sun and cloud but there’s a chance of some rain through the afternoon, particularly in the South, highs rebound from today’s chill back up to between 7-10C.

Sunday and into the start of next week is looking pleasant with sunshine, little chance of rain and it’s mild at 9-12C.

Northern Ireland

It’s a much milder night across Ulster than last as the Atlantic air flow returns. Cloud, some light and patchy rain will spread across the country tonight on a fresh WSW breeze. Lows no lower than 5C.

Saturday is looking breezy but mild with spells of light rain carried by the breeze. Highs 6-8C.

Sunday will see more rain, breeze but continued mild and it looks much the same but potentially with less rain Monday.

Ireland

It’s a mild, cloudy and for some, damp night but nothing particularly wet. Overnight lows hold nicely thanks to the SW breeze and cloud, 5-8C.

Saturday and Sunday but look very similar with plenty of cloud as well as some light and patchy rain driven across the country on the fresh SW breeze. Both days should be pleasant in terms of temperature at 7-12C.

Monday continues with the largely high pressure theme, continued mild and potentially drier and brighter into early next week.
