Written by on June 5, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

Today has been cooler and cloudier with at some least sunshine breaking through which has helped warm things up as well as increase humidity. You’ll notice the slight mugginess in the air along with some rain showers too, those particularly over higher ground. Highs are widely in the upper teens with perhaps a few spots at 20-21C where sunshine has been persistent. Not a bad day overall really.

Through tonight we should see a mix of cloud and clear spells and where clear, temperatures may dip away fairly sharply, especially over the Highlands where it may get low enough for a touch of grass frost. Towns and cities generally 8-11C.

Thursday should see the brightest skies in the West where temperatures should warm back towards levels seen yesterday of 19-23C, always cloudier and cooler in the East. Glasgow 21C, Edinburgh 16C, Aberdeen 12C.

Friday should see similar with a warm, sunny West, cooler, cloudier in the East 17-24C.

England

It’s been a largely fine and dry day once again across the bulk of England but it remains cool, cloudy and disappointing along North Sea coasts with highs struggling to get much above 11 or 12C. Further west and the cloud breaks, you loose the cool NE breeze and highs are climbing to 20-21C.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy except for possible breaks west of the Pennines. Where clear and away from towns/cities, it may get quite cool with mist and fog forming. Where cloudy, it remains milder at 10-12C.

As for Thursday west is always best with plenty of warm sunshine on offer, it remains cool and dull but at least dry along the East Coast. Highs range from 12C on the cloudy, breezy coast to a warm 22-24C in the sunny west Midlands. Carlisle 21C, Manchester 22C, Bristol 22C, Norwich 16C, London 21C.

A mix of sun and cloud Friday with the best of the sun always west of the Pennines. Highs of 13-24C.

Wales

After a cloudy start for many, the sunshine managed to break through during the afternoon allowing for another warm one with highs widely reaching 18-20, locally 21C, always cooler with an onshore breeze along the coast.

Overnight tonight it turn cool beneath clear skies and we may see mist and fog forming in the valleys. Lows drop to 5, locally 4C in rural areas but staying milder in the towns and cities at 8-11C.

Thursday is another warm day with more in the way of sunshine, highs will rise to between 16C along the coast to 22-23C in Cardiff.

Another warm and sunny day Friday with highs similar to tomorrow.

Northern Ireland

Today has become NI’s warmest of the year with a temperature reaching at least 22.3C at Castlederg, Tyrone. There is a chance of seeing some thundery showers pop thanks to strong daytime heating but these quickly dissipate into the evening as the dynamics are lost. Highs widely reached 19-21C today!

Through tonight and a lot of today’s warmth escapes back to space beneath clear skies and light winds. Could see some mist or fog develop in valley areas. Lows dip towards 5C in the countryside, nearer 7-9C in the towns and cities.

Another warm, sunny day to come Thursday with similar temperatures to today of 16C along the coast with an onshore breeze to 22C inland. Belfast 21C, Newry 21C, Derry 19C.

Friday is looking equally as warm and sunny!

Ireland

It’s been another terrific day of summer sunshine and warmth with highs widely reaching 19-21C, particularly across the Midlands but it’s practically unbroken sunshine across the country. Tonight will cool fairly quickly beneath clear skies and light winds. Expect lows down to 5C in the rural Midlands, holding up nearer 10C in the towns and along the coast.

Thursday is looking like another fine, dry, warm and sunny day with similar temperatures to today of 15C along the coast with onshore winds to 23, perhaps 24C over the Midlands. Dublin 21C, Cork 19C.

More warmth and sun to be enjoyed Friday.
