The showers of today are now fading and that’s allowing for a pleasant, sunny end to your Thursday. The bright end means a starry night to come and another chilly one, particularly in the West where it’s clearest, further east and thicker cloud, even the odd light shower is possible with overnight temperatures holding up. Expect lows of 4 to -1C in the clearer West, 3-6C in the cloudier East.

Friday looks to see a bright or sunny West and a cloudy East with some rain possible. Highs range from 11-14C in the sunshine, only 9-10C beneath the cloud and along the East Coast, expect the breeze to pick up.

England

After a much better day compared to yesterday, this evening is looking fine and becoming increasingly dry as any showers fade. The East however will see cloudcover increase thanks to a north-south oriented front. This will keep things milder overnight with a chance of an odd shower anywhere from Northumberland down to Kent and areas inland, generally east of the Pennines. Western areas will see clearer skies and therefore cooler temperatures. Lows tonight range from 5 or 6C beneath the cloud, perhaps as low as 1-2C in the clearer rural West.

Friday is looking to be a decent day in the West but where the sun shines and I expect it will over the Southwest up through the West Midlands, perhaps reaching Cumbria, expect afternoon showers as the atmosphere gets stirred up by surface heating. Further east and it’s dull and for some eastern coastal communities, damp. Where sun lingers, highs may push 15 or 16C but it may hold at just 9 or 10C under the cloud.

Wales

Following another day of sun and showers, tonight will see showers fade for most, perhaps an odd on or two surviving through the night. Many will see clearing skies and that means a possibility of some rural grass frost. Lows tonight range from 4-6C where cloud and perhaps and odd shower lingers, 1-3C where skies become clear.

Friday looks like a repeat performance with a fairly bright start but as the sun warms the ground, so the cloud bubbles up, producing heavy, thundery downpours. Highs tomorrow range from 10-12 along the coast, perhaps 13-15C in the sunshine.

Northern Ireland

Today has been a pleasant one across the bulk of NI and tonight, under clear skies and light winds, it will turn quite cold and frost a possibility outwith towns and cities. Temperatures should dip to 2-3C in Newry, Belfast and Derry but in the countryside, perhaps 0C.

Friday looks to see a lot of dry and bright weather with few showers around. With the abundant sunshine with perhaps fair weather cumulus developing, we should see highs widely of 12-14C, perhaps an off 16C somewhere.

Ireland

It will be a largely clear night across many parts of the Republic with mist and fog developing along with some rural grass frost. Lows should dip to between 2-4C in the towns and cities, perhaps nearer freezing in rural parts.

Friday should start off largely fine, dry and bright albeit a little on the chilly side but at this time of year the sun quickly heats the ground and soon enough, showers will pop late morning in some areas, but in other parts, the sunshine should linger. Sunshine and showers is the main theme tomorrow. Highs range from 10-12C along the coast, nearer 15 or 16C where sunshine lingers.
