Scotland

Further snow can be expected through at least the first half of tonight with strong easterly winds continuing to drive in the moisture. After a significant amount of snow and drifting through today, we could see a further 1-2 inches across eastern parts tonight with snow showers and flurries extending all the way across to the west. Lows tonight dip to between 1 or 0C where windy and snowy, -5C or -6C where skies clear, especially over fresh snow cover.

Tomorrow should be a slightly better day compared with today as the bulk of the moisture begins tp head south. Both snow and wind will ease down but it stays largely cloudy and cold with highs of near 1 to 3C where cloudy, perhaps 4 or 5C where the sun appears.

Tomorrow night will be much calmer and colder and if there are any breaks, temperatures may plummet over the snowfields

England

England was a tale of two halves today with a wintry look and feel across the north with snow showers rattling in on a strong east wind while it was milder showery with hail and thunder across more southern areas. Temperatures in the north held at 2-4C, 6 to 8C in the south.

Through tonight, while most will remain dry but somewhat cloudy, an area of moderate snow will push into the Yorkshire coast and push into the Pennines through the night. Expect a disruptive 1-3, locally 5 inches from this with a decent covering even to low levels.

This will peter out through tomorrow morning leaving much of the country largely dry, cloudy and cold with highs in the north not getting much above 2 or 3C, 4-5C in the south.

Wales

Wales is very much dominated by a cold and showery theme with sdome hefty, thundery showers affecting many parts through today and these will continue tonight with some falling and sleet and even snow and these won’t be solely confined to higher ground. Expect lows of between 0-3C.

Tomorrow will continue to see showers with a wintry mix, snow over the hills, staying cold with highs of just 4-6C.

Northern Ireland

It’s a messy weather regime across the country with heavy, frequent showers, many of which are falling wintry, so your likely to have experienced sleet, perhaps snow and even hail if out on the roads today. Through tonight the sleet, snow and hail showers continue, some of which could provide light coverings to low levels while the hills recieve a decent few inches. Lows tonight dip back to near freezing.

Much of the same for your Wednesday with further heavy sleet and snow showers, watch out for tricky driving conditions in parts of the east and south. Highs tomorrow 2-5C.

Ireland

After a fairly decent although chilly day across much of the country, a little milder down towards Cork, it’s looking fine, dry and settled tonight with clear spells providing frost. Some showers will dot the landscape though, falling as sleet to low levels (perhaps snow in the north) while the mountains may see an additional covering. Lows tonight 2 to -2C.

Tomorrow looks much the same as today, a mix of sun and cloud with some scattered hit and miss showers, some falling as sleet even snow across the north. Highs tomorrow 4-7C.
