The GFS continues to suggest one of the more unusual patterns i’ve ever seen. Folks, there is a heck of a lot going on and lots of weather appears to be on the way for us here in the UK. Not only does the UK have the potential to see a powerful storm which Nadine will spawn, striking Sunday and Monday but Nadine itself not only maintains itself but deepens as it takes aim at SOUTHERN PORTUGAL. The latest run of the GFS takes Nadine into Portugal next Wednesday as a strong 980 mb storm perhaps packing sustained tropical storm-force winds and hurricane-force gusts accompanied by flooding rains. Not every day does that happen right?
In fact, according to my Hurricane Almanac book by TWC’s Bryan Norcross, Vince in 2005 struck southern Iberia as a depression and this system was the only tropical cyclone to ever strike Europe so could history be in the making, perhaps Europe’s first actual tropical storm landfall? At the end of the day, this is too far out to accurately call. You never know it may not ever hit Portugal but nonetheless this is facinating stuff.
Take a look at the GFS forecast for next Wednesday!
Pretty cool eh.

Hi Mark. Will Ire bare the brunt of the storm too?
