>After a low of 23 this morning and a current reading now down to 26 and dropping, we are in the midst of 6 consecutive nights in the 20s and currently 16th night below freezing for the month, not only for this site is it running for second place for most nights below freezing in meteorological winter but also second place for departure from normal with an ever greater risk of seeing a colder month than January.
Glasgow is currently 4.4 below normal for February and January finished 4.7 below normal but two more nights “garrented” to fall well below freezing and well below the average low for this time of year which is 35 degrees we now have a great chance with a locked in cold pattern to close the remaining 7 days which would likely tie if not beat Januarys cold levels and become the winters second coldest month for Glasgow.
I can see it possible that we have another 4-6 nights below freezing which would also mark the second most nights in a month below freezing for my own site.
Interestingly, I read today in an article issued yesterday in the Dail Mail that Britain was in store to see it’s coldest February in 24 years, ironically, January marked the coldest in Britain in 23 years. Does this mean that for Scotland, this will end the coldest meteorlogical winter on record for the Dec through Feb period? Afterall the Dec-Jan period was considered the coldest on record or since at least 1914…
As stated earlier, winter ain’t over till it’s over. What I am curious about will be March which may in my opinion end up one of the worst in many years too!!

Thanks for reading.
